A scheme is hatched

I went camping with my friend Stu last year at Bull Creek, in the dead of winter, and upon our arrival decided a fire was going to be a good idea to keep warm. The only issue with this was of course that winter brings with it rain and all of the fallen wood was drenched. So we had to get back in the car after making camp and head out to the service station 10 clicks down the road to buy a bag of wood. And it turned out that one bag was barely enough.

This prompted the discussion "maybe we should have brought a trailerload of firewood" , which lead to "if we're bringing a trailer we could bring other useful stuff also, like a table and such". We kept talking about this through the evening and decided when we got back that we would start looking into building covered trailer to take camping in the winter.

We had little requirements: It had to be sturdy, needed a top that could be opened from both sides, and inside needed different sections so we could store firewood in one spot, camping equipment somewhere else, etc.

But when we got to actually writing down what we wanted things started to get a bit more complicated, like having lights so you could see what you were doing at night, which meant power would be necessary - and maybe a water supply and gas cooker.

Before we got ahead of ourselves though we decided to find a cheap trailer that we could customize to suit our needs. I scoured eBay (I could have spent more time scouring, in hindsight) and found a trailer for a bargain price, collected it and hauled it home, and started having a really detailed inspection. There's only so much you can see from photos when you're buying something and it was pretty dark when I went to pick the thing up so I didn't really know what we were getting into until I got the thing into my garage.
